I like to read a book about Jesus’ death and resurrection each year leading up to Good Friday and Easter. This year I chose Zahnd’s new release, and so far I am loving it. Zahnd helps us explore the meaning of the cross not as an intellectual exercise debating various atonement theories, but by seeing the beauty of the cross from a variety of images and angles. The hardcover edition includes color photos of the various artistic depictions of the cross that Zahnd describes throughout the book.

The beauty of the cross.
